Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) is a non-profit cultural organization serving the needs of everyone working in music, film and television across Northern Ontario. CION was established to assume the role and branding of Music and Film in Motion (MFM), and to advance its efforts to promote and encourage increased media arts production throughout Northern Ontario. Read more

FILMING

Since 2001, over one hundred film and television productions have been shot in Northern Ontario. In the past few years, the region has emerged to become a thriving film industry center spawning the creation of new businesses and service providers. Every year the region sees a growth in production as producers from across Canada and beyond are discovering what Northern Ontario has to offer.  Read more

MFM is Northern Ontario’s grassroots music industry association. That is to say, it’s our job to create and encourage opportunities that support the growth of our vibrant music scene. NOMFA

MFM was thrilled to bring Northern Ontario’s talent together for the 2015 Northern Ontario Music & Film Awards (NOMFA) and conference, a three day event that acknowledged our region’s very best. Audience members, artists and industry representatives gathered at the Sudbury Theatre Centre to celebrate and recognize the very best that Northern Ontario has to offer in music and film.

MUSIC

Hidden Roots Collective is back with this video for their song "Somebody". The video features beautiful Northern scenery from ground level to the bird's eye view. Filmed by Ed Regan near Warbler's Roost (Machar Township, Ontario) where the four North Bay-based singer songwriters recorded their debut album "Come Up, Honey". This album was funded by the Ontario Arts Council and was produced, recorded, and mixed by Ben Leggett Recording.

FILM

The Sudbury-shot feature Antibirth directed by Dany Perez explores the frightening pregnancy of Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black) and her immaculately conceived demon baby. The film is filled with trippy imagery and shocking horror throughout. After making its world debut at Sundance earlier this year, Antibirth has been selected as part of Cinefest Sudbury's #GenXY lineup. Catch the screening Saturday September 24th, tickets are available!

PLACES

The Town of Cochrane is home to The Polar Bear Habitat & Heritage Village. The Habitat is dedicated to, and setting the highest standards for, the care, conservation and well-being of polar bears. This overview video shows who we are and what we do - and is now currently playing in our new mini theatre. The Town of Cochrane thank NOHFC, FedNor and Science North for their support and assistance in producing the new exhibits and content!
